Note: VALENTINE 14 Oct 1915 Jacob Albert Valentine, aged 67 years, died today at his home on Ann Street following a 4 week illness from an injury occurring 2 years ago while working in the freight department of the B & O RR. His wife and 6 children survive: Walter V; Russell B; and Spear Valentine-all of Cumberland; and brothers, Frank of Sheridan PA and John Valentine, ½ brother, Elmer Valentine; a sister, Mrs Nina Springer of Fairmont WV; ½ sister, Mrs Henry Welch of Cooks Mills PA. He was with the B&O RR for 21 years and had been the farmer at the Almshouse for 10 years prior to that. Services are from the home and services in Kingsley Church and burial in Rose Hill Cemetery. "Samuel Elliott spent his entire life of seventy-six years in Cumberland Valley township, where he cleared and improved a good homestead from the forest-covered land. He was industrious and self-reliant, and as a public-spirited citizen was always ready to aid movements tending to increase the groth and prosperity of the town and county. In politics he affiliated with the Democrats."

HITE Mrs Harriett Hite, aged 70 years, wife of Lewis Hite, died at her residence 11 miles out of Cumberland on the Bedford Road on Sunday (16 May)following a stroke of paralysis she suffered 3 months ago. She was a daughter of the late Mr & Mrs Samuel Elliott. Her husband; a brother, Nathan Elliott; and a sister, Mrs Joseph Bruner survive. The funeral is tomorrow from the Bethel ME Church. 1900 Census lists her as the mother of one child. Since he's not listed in the obit. Benton must have died prior to 1915.
