Putnam, Thomas (b. 1614, d. 5 MAY 1686)
Note: He was in his 20's when he came to America. He was a very wealthy and influential member of the community. He had inherited a 'double portion' of his father's estate, and both wives were
the marriages. The homestead of Thomas Putnam was acquired by his son Joseph, and it was there that General Israel Putnam was born.

He was also very active in both civic and church activities.

Large landowner and was known as "Captain" for his many military encounters. Soldier in King Philip's War.

Witchcraft: Opposed- but didn't speak out.

He, like his father, was active in having Salem Village made into a separate town, later to be called Danvers.

Note: He moved to Pomfret, Connecticut around 1739 and bought lands in what became Brooklyn, Connecticut. He first served in the Army at Lake George, New York in 1755. He made Major in 1757 an
took up arms again in 1775 fighting at bunker Hill. He fought throughout New York and Connecticut during the revolution with the tank of Major General.
