Note: Died in the Colonial French and Indian War in the seige of Fort Ticonderoga.
Note: 7/9/2003 - I'm wondering about the accuracy of placing this Elizabeth French as a child of John French and Elizabeth Harwood, as all LDS records seem to indicate. All John & Elizabeth's other children are recorded in the Dunstable Vital records and there is no mention of an Elizabeth born to them. Also, her marriage record says she is "of Hollis, New Hampshire." But the John in Dunstable, lived and died there, as did many of his children. I think I should look for another John French in NH with a daughter Elizabeth.

Note: He was general and pioneer founder of Ohio. He first joined the Army in 1757. Later that year he served as a scout under his cousin, Capt. Israel Putnam. He was a Lt. Colonel at the sta
end of the Revolution, and in 1787 was appointed superintendent of the Ohio Company and placed in charge of some 1.5 million acres in the Ohio Territory. He spent the remainder of his lif
state.
Note: He was known as "Cornet" signifying a military association. In the first tax
assessment (1730) he was listed as "Ephraim, Jun." After his uncle died in
1731 he is listed merely as Ephraim. A 1731 assessment list for repair of
highways in which the residents are split into four districts, includes him
in a southern district. He probably lived in the present (1986) area of the
intersection of Route 110 and Nixon Road. (Formerly the south end on
Providence Road.)
