Charles Henry Welsh, 81 passed away at his home in Kalispell, Montana on Jan. 27, 1997. He was born Dec. 12, 1815 in Friedens, to Nellie and Ralph Welsh.
He was an avid baseball and Jeopardy fan and loved to read. He enjoyed traveling and visiting his grandchildren. He married Florence Derencin Dec. 19, 1941, at Somerset. They had three daughters and two sons.
Charles made the Army his career. He was a veteran of World War II, and received the Silver Star for heroics in the Pacific Campaign. He was given and honorable discharge in 1961 after 44 years of service (NOTE: one of these two numbers is wrong). H
retired as Major.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Ralph and Stephen. He is survived by his wife, Florence of Kalispell; three daughters:Susan Welsh of California; Nancy Conners and husband Douglas of Kalispell; and Cynthia Mash and husb
Eugene of Arizona; two sons: Robert Welsh of Utah and Mark Welsh and wife Lucinda of Virginia; three sisters: Betty Buljat and husband John, Mary Jane Mayak and husband John, all of Somerset; Joan Cyga and husband Chester of Quecreek; three borthers
Jim Welsh and wife Elaine of Florida, Paul Welsh and wife Shirley of Somerset, Ted Welsh and wife Lois from Texas; a sister-in-law, Gladys Welsh, wife of his brother Ralph from Somerset and nine loving grandchildren.
A private family service is planned. The family suggests donations can be made to the Lutheran Social Services, 17 Second St. E, Room 207, Kalispell, Mont. 59901. Arrangements are by the Johnson Mortuary and Crematory.
