Note: !Valentine Saffler - was born probably abt. 1700 to 1710 in Germany. When he
arrived in Philadelphia no wife appeared with him so it could be assumed he was
widowed or never married.
Valentine died between 27 Jan 1759 when he wrote his will and Feb
1759 when it was proved. Valentine was the parent of at least two children who
were probable born in Germany.
The Saffler/Safftler family is a relatively uncommon family in York Co. Two
possible Valentive Safftlers came to Philadelphia in the early days. First a
Valentine Safftler and Johannes Safftler arrived on the "Ann Galley" on 27 Sept
1746. Valentine could not write and made his mark on the immigration papers.
Johannes recorded two deeds in Manheim Twp.
Another Valtin Sofftler arrived in Philadelphia on the "Edenburgh" on 13 Aug
1750. He was able to sign his name.
The unrecorded will of Valentine Saffler found in the York County Court House
is signed with a signature that resembles the Valtin Sofftler who arrived in
1750.
Various spellings of name are Saffler, Seffler, Seftler, Sofftler, Saffler,
Seffler, Saftel and Safftler
Note: !Catarina ws probably born about 1730 in Germany. In Valentine's will she is
mentioned as the eldest daughter. Nothing further is known about her.
