Magdalena, (b. ABT 1732, d. FEB 1814)
Note: (Note from Carl Lambert): Mary Ann or Magdalena (which is it) or is it one & the same? Depending upon who's research you read it could have been either. Most documents in her later yrs [wills, etc.] refer to her as Mary Ann. Mary Ann is simply an anglicized form of the more germanic Magdalena. I believe from the documents & research I've seen thus far that Conrath Thomas Lind's wife was of german descent & they either m. in Germany & came over together on the Snow Ketty in 1752 into Philadelphia or they met & married after they came to Philadelphia. The ships records do not list any of the female passengers, only the males so there isn't any way of
determining her point & time of entry. She was definitely born in Germany though & I believe began her life as Magdalena. Once she came to America her name gradually changed to the more anglicized form of Mary Ann. For the record I will keep her as Magdalena.

John Stotler, under the watchful eyes of his father, Casper Stotler, received his education and training to become one of the
foremost business and civic leaders of this community during the first half of the nineteenth century. John began his business career
at the early age of fifteen years by operating a supply store for his father located along the Forbes Road near the old Stoy place.
Several years later, near the same place, John operated the first tavern in Shade Township. In time his tavern became a noted
place along the new road called the Pennsylvania Road. Stotler was the proud owner of more than eight hundred acres of land in
the township. In the election of 1820, John Stotler was chosen a member of the General Assembly of the commonwealth, serving in
that capacity for several terms. Mr. Stotler was a very active leader in the activities of the Shade Lutheran Church, the first church
built in Shade Township. John Stotler and his wife, Catherine, are interred in the Stotler Cemetery.
NOTE: I don't know which children belong to which wife!
Note: Samuel Stotler resided at the old homestead, "The Fields," and operated a sawmill located near the head of Little Shade Creek.
Note: Emanuel Stotler built and operated a tavern along the Pennsylvania Road, called the "Black Horse Inn," located at what is now known as Reel's Corners.
Note: NO children.
Note: Family lore says Arthur was divorced prior to marrying Mary Kathryn Owens. He would never speak of this first wife and no one seems to know when they were divorced or why. Since that time I've found not one but two former wives, and a son from the first marriage.

Note: Kathryn Owens for most of her life claimed to be five years younger than she really was. Her children found out her real age in the 50's because of Social Security. She always told people that she married right after high school at age 18 (a "child bride"), when, in fact, she was 23 when she got married. What did she do during those five years? No one knows.
